Iceland Part 1

Iceland Part 1

I’ve been wanting to travel to Iceland for 3 or 4 years now and finally pulled the trigger and made the surprisingly short flight over from DC the first week of September. My longtime friend Joe (we’ve know each other since we were 9 I think) was kind enough to join me and pull some extra driving duty when I was unable to shake a nasty stomach bug for the first half of the trip, owe you buddy!

We lucked into pretty much the best weather imaginable, and also witnessed a pretty spectacular aurora borealis show which is rare for that time of year we were told. It was a lifelong goal of mine to see the northern lights and it did not disappoint. Unfortunately I managed to bring a broken tripod with me so I had to improvise  and used a frying pan to point the camera upwards while it laid on the ground. Whatever works I suppose.

I’ve been busy editing and reediting these pictures for about a month now trying fully convey just how beautiful of place Iceland is but I think that’s pretty much impossible so here is the first batch. More to follow in later posts…
