Grandma Sparrow – Spacebomb Records
A few months back I had the pleasure of doing another Spacebomb shoot for Joe Westerlund’s (Megafaun, Califone, Gayngs and Mount Moriah) new album “Grandma Sparrow & his Piddletractor Orchestra” with my incredibly talented friend Travis Robertson who does the art direction for most if not all Spacebomb projects and Joel Speasmaker who worked with Travis on the graphic design. Joe is pretty much the nicest dude ever and has been a part of some bands I really dig. I’ve been able to listen to the record (which come out 5/20/14) and it is waaaayyyy out there but in an amazing way.
I was also able to shoot some video that Spacebomb edited into a nice little album teaser.
Recent Press about the Album:
“Album of the month times ten!”
“It’s got the strange, multi-layered harmonies of the Beatles circa Magical Mystery Tour, the symphonic sweep of Van Dyke Parks, the oddball instrumentation of Brian Wilson at his most wigged-out.”
“It’s a sonic playground…[that] embraces absurdist humor and childlike whimsy, impulsive improvisation and pop collisions.”
Strangely none of the reviews mention how incredible the photography is, weird…
